When thinking about a salary for construction work carried out overseas it is important to consider the trade off between lifestyle versus income. It is essential that you know what currency your salary and any benefit will be paid in and also to clarify rates for standard work and any overtime that you may participate in.

Before leaving to work overseas enquire about the environment you will be working in and similarly the accommodation you shall be staying in. Also what season the country is in and what is the typical weather for the time of year you are visiting. If accommodation is not provided by the employer, it is a very good idea to do some research before you leave, and to make sure you are happy with the rate of exchange and cost of living.

Finally it is well worth getting full medical cover for your time overseas. Sometimes this will be provided by the employer but where it is not it is best to get your own as medical bills can prove extremely costly.
